 Dr. Stephenie Riley
Dr. Stephenie Riley is a Naturopathic Doctor practicing in Tahoe City, CA. Her offices are located at the Tahoe Center of Natural Medicine.
She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Engineering and spent almost 10 years designing conventional medical devices. She ultimately turned her career path full circle, returning to graduate school in 1999 to become a Naturopathic Doctor.
It was the combination of her in the classical medical industry, and her personal pursuit for optimal health, that inspired her to pursue medicine from a different perspective.
Dr. Riley graduated from Bastyr University in 2004, with her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.). Her particular area of interest was environmental medicine, or the impact of our environment on our health. This interest is very evident in her work with patients, as well as her involvement with community outreach and education.
Dr. Riley employs an integrative approach, drawing from both conventional medicine and alternative approaches in her work with a patient. Although there are common foundations, all work is tailored to the individual. She places great emphasis on diet and lifestyle changes, as these are the changes clients carry forward into their lives and can employ on a daily basis.
Work can range from simple consultations on diet, lifestyle and supplementation; to performing blood work and using naturopathic guidelines for interpretation. Such extended interpretation includes not only using conventional lab value, but also specific ranges identified for optimal health.
Dr. Riley is also trained in Cranial Sacral and Visceral Manipulation through Upledger Institute, as well as Nalbudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET). NAET is used to treat allergies and sensitivities through a combination of applied kinesiology and acupressure.
She is a member of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association, American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the American Academy of Environmental Medicine.
She is actively involved in the EcoMom Alliance, and is a member of their EcoMom Expert panel as the Environmental Medicine Expert. She also addresses environmental medicine questions in EcoMom’s column “Ask Dr. Steph”. She is often referred to as “The EcoMom Doc”.
